Hewlett-Packard to set Windows Live search as default option

A deal has been struck between Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard to set Windows Live search as default option on later’s consumer PCs starting in January. The computers will also carry a toolbar that uses Microsoft’s Silverlight in conjunction with Live Search.

US data center catches fire, 9000 servers down

China and USA are leading sources of cyber attacks

India and Brazil appeal against Microsoft OOXML format

Brazil, India and South Africa have appealed International Organization for Standardization (ISO) against adopting Microsoft sponsored Office Open XML (OOXML) file format as international standard. Office Open XML (also referred to as OOXML or OpenXML) is an electronic document format, and a proposed ISO standard for representing spreadsheets, charts, presentations and word processing documents.

Desktop supercomputer that uses standard gaming hardware

A desktop supercomputer named FASTRA that uses four NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 graphics cards and costs less than 4000EUR has been built. This was announced by researchers at the University of Antwerp in Belgium.
