May 26th, 2008 by Kiyani ~ No Comments

IBM has opened a new Global Delivery Center (GDC) in Pune, India to address the growing global demand for the delivery of application services.

This is IBM Global Business Services’ (GBS) fourth site in Pune, and it will expand the scope of business and technology expertise already available to clients through its globally integrated network of delivery centers.

Located in Hinjewadi Information Technology Park, the center is spread over 180,000 square feet and will house close to 2,000 employees once fully staffed.

This center builds on IBM’s experience in the timely delivery of quality IT services for business application development, maintenance, testing and solution management. Leading package solutions, such as SAP, Oracle, Siebel, mainframe and e-business applications will be supported through the center.

It will also provide services for clients in the travel and transportation, chemicals and petroleum, and energy and utility industries.

In addition to the Pune GDC, IBM also today announced a new global delivery center in Cairo, Egypt. The Cairo GDC will provide clients with consulting and application services, with a focus on embedded systems development.

These “centers of excellence” utilize world-class tools and automation technologies from IBM Research and are staffed with skilled professionals who are uniquely equipped to serve client needs by industry.

According to Rajesh Nambiar, Vice President and General Manager, Global Delivery, IBM India:

As a globally integrated company, IBM’s strategy of doing the right tasks, with the right skills, in the right places, leads in high-value creation and services delivery. Our new facility in Pune will further augment our delivery network worldwide, providing clients in key sectors with differentiated solutions to help them innovate and transform their businesses.

IBM has also announced a new Language Translation Services Center (LTSC) in the Pune facility as part of its strategy to address increasing demand from clients in Europe for non-English language skills.
