Microsoft all set to go hostile today

May 2nd, 2008 by Kiyani ~ No Comments

According to the Wall Street Journal Microsoft may go hostile in its bid for Yahoo as early as today i.e. Friday.

World’s largest software maker is planning to go straight to shareholders. An announcement is likely to come today or tomorrow because time is running out.

Chief Executive Steve Ballmer told employees in a company assembly yesterday that:he won’t pay “a dime above” what he thinks Yahoo is worth, and staff will know the next move in the takeover quest “in very short order”.

I know exactly what I think Yahoo is worth to me. I won’t go a dime above, and I will go to what I think it’s worth if that gets the deal done.

He said.

Although Ballmer didn’t specifically say as to when the deal will be finalized but he hinted that it will be very soon. He told employees:

We ought to announce something in relatively short order.

Buying Yahoo is just one of many software maker’s strategy to compete with Google Inc. in search and web advertising.
