Well I am using both words “recover” and “hack” depending on how you use this technique. If you have lost your password then it will be called recovery but if you try it on your friend’s PC then of course it’s hacking!

It only takes 5 minutes so let’s get started.

• First you need to get Winternals ERD Commander software. Winternals ERD Commander 2005 boots dead systems directly from CD into a Windows-like repair environment. You’ll have full access to the dead system’s volumes, so you can diagnose and repair problems using tools located on the ERD Commander 2005 Start menu. And you’ll have built-in network access to safely move data off of, or on to, the dead system.
• Boot your PC with Winternals ERD Commander CD.
• Once you come to a screen which asks for Windows folder, select the folder where Windows is installed.
• A warning message will be displayed. Just press OK.
• Now will see Windows like interface and start menu. Click on “Start” menu and go to “Administrative Tools” and then to “Locksmith”.
• Select user who’s password you want to reset. Enter new password. That’s it!
• Now restart PC like you normally do without that bootable CD.
