LG Electronics, the South Korean multinational corporation has introduced a new 22 inch widescreen LCD monitor that only consumes 22W power.
It is claimed to be the world’s most energy efficient “green” monitor.
The LG Flatron W2252TE power consumption is 45 percent lower than other monitors of same class thus saving 40W.
However the screen still comes with toxic chemicals that come with all electronics, and LG hasn’t changed anything about the actual materials the monitor is made from.

LG Flatron W2252TE - World’s greenest monitor
According to Fiona Landsberg, marketing manager for LG:
With the ever increasing time spent by consumers on computers these days, there is a need for products that are more energy efficient. We are committed to expanding our ‘green’ monitor portfolio with products that either equal or better the energy saving provided by the W2252TE.
The screen offers a 1,680 x 1,050 resolution, 170-degree viewing angle, 250 cd brightness and a 2ms response time. No price detail is available yet and it will be offered for sale in August in UK.
LG isn’t the only electronics firm trying to be green, either. The company that aims to be the greenest on the planet, Dell, has become the first company of its type to offer goods that use less power than the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star standard.
