Microsoft tests AdCenter to compete with Google AdSense

July 18th, 2008 by Kiyani ~ No Comments

Microsoft is testing contextual advertising with its AdCenter program that will directly compete with Google AdSense.

This is a pilot program in which Microsoft is letting small publishers display contextual advertising through its AdCenter program.

A Microsoft spokesperson says this trial has actually been underway since earlier this year with a small group of publishers, but won’t say when or if this will officially roll out publicly.

The pilot is small and not public, and participants will be asked to agree to a Confidentiality Statement before taking part. They will not be able to blog about the program or discuss it outside of their company.

Google AdSesne is the contextual advertising king at the moment as it gives publishers a higher rate of return plus anyone whether small publisher or big can subscribe to it.
