Samsung has released a new 1 TB eco-friendly hard disk which provides 15 per cent power saving compared to other low-powered 1TB hard drives.
With “green” being the in word these days, this hard drive is primarily intended to minimize power consumption.
This EcoGreen F1 hard disk consumes 15 percent less power as compared to other low-powered 1TB hard drives and also holds well against traditional 1TB hard drives by saving power up to 50 percent. It’s part of the F1 series which Samsung launched in November 2007.
The drive achieves low consumption by using optimized electronics and power saving modes which reduces power consumption and resulting heat dissipation.
It runs at 5,400rpm and has 3Gbps Sata interface with native command queuing and a 32MB buffer memory.
Perpendicular magnetic recording with Samsung’s flying-on-demand head technology improves recording stability over changing temperature ranges, according to the company.
T. J. Lee, vice president of sales and marketing at Samsung Electronics’ storage division said:
Since 2003, Samsung’s hard disk drives have complied with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances and Brominated Flame Retardant directive.
This hard disk can be used as an external or internal drive for desktop PCs.
Lee further added:
The EcoGreen product line is designed to meet consumer demand for eco-friendly, high-performance devices with an optimised cost of ownership advantage.
