Google to counter Baidu with is own MP3 search in China

Google China is planning to introduce MP3 search as it struggles to compete Baidu in China. This move comes as a surprise because music industry has been critical of Baidu for its MP3 search although Baidu says it tries its best to protect copyright material.

Music piracy lands 25 year old New Yorker in jail

First it was TorrentSpy and now this. A US court has convicted Barry Gitarts, from Brooklyn, New York of music piracy who now faces a fine of $250,000 and five years in jail. He is 25 years old.

Court orders Nintendo to pay $21 million for patent infringement

A federal court has ordered Nintendo of America to pay $21 million in fine to Anascape Ltd. for patent infringement related to the Wii and GameCube video game hardware. Court orders TorrentSpy to pay $100 million to studios

California federal judge Florence-Marie Cooper has ordered TorrentSpy to pay some $110 million in damages for infringing the copyright of thousands of films and TV shows through its BitTorrent search engine. This is a major win for Hollywood studios who are fighting torrents since long.
