Facebook accused of privacy violations by Canadian legal pros

Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC) has accused Facebook of 22 privacy violations.
This is not the first time as in January 2008 Facebook was quizzed by the Information Commissioner’s Office in UK following a complaint by a user who was unable to fully delete her profile even after terminating her account.

Sex offenders caught on Facebook and MySpace

Three convicted sex offenders Stanton Ulmer, 32, of Neptune Township, Felice Black, 24, of Paterson, and Pietro Parisi, 34, of Westville have been arrested by New Jersey State Police after accessing MySpace and Facebook.

More than 43 percent US teenagers cyber-bullied last year

According to a study by the US National Crime Prevention Council and research firm Harris Interactive more than 43 per cent of US citizens aged 13-17 have experienced cyber-bullying in the past year.

Facebook under fire on breaking ad rules in UK

A UK charity organization Charity Action says that ads being displayed on Facebook are violating rules laid down by the Office of Fair Trading(OFT).
Adverts for loans and credit cards on Facebook are flouting advertising standards, according to a statement.

MySpace launches ‘Data Availability’ project

MySpace has launched a new initiative called Data Availability which will allow members to share profile data with other social and community sites across the Web.
Yahoo, eBay, Photobucket and Twitter are partners of this project.

BBC hacks Facebook - exposes flaw

British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has made an application called “The Miner” that scrapes personal information from the profile it is added to - and from the profiles of all the friends of that person. According to their technology program “Click” has exposed a security flaw in the social networking site Facebook which could compromise privacy.
