Gary McKinnon, also known as Solo, (born in Glasgow in 1966), the UK systems administrator who hacked into Nasa and Pentagon computers in 2001 and 2002, is today making a last-ditch bid to avoid extradition to the US.

SMS is more expensive than receiving data from space: study

A study by Dr Nigel Bannister of University of Leicester (United Kingdom) reveals that sending a text message is at least four times more expensive than receiving scientific data from space. He worked out that sending texts via mobile phones works out to be far more expensive than downloading data from the Hubble Space Telescope.

NASA is conducting a bed-rest experiment to allow scientists to study some of the effects of microgravity on the human body. It will take place in the Human Test Subject Facility of Johnson Space Center and the participant will be paid $17,000 to stay in bed for 90 straight days.

Canada teams up with NASA to send mission to Mars

Canada with the help of NASA will send a mission to Mars in less than three weeks. They will be taking instruments that will tell scientists about clouds, dust and weather on the Red Planet. Canada built about one-fifth of the scientific instruments packed aboard Mars Phoenix, NASA’s first probe to Mars in two years.
